PORT OF CEDEIRA | |
Description | The town of Cedeira is divided into two parts by the Condomiñas river. The traditional streets preserve their medieval routes, and part of the city wall is also conserved. Magdalena beach takes up the whole of the new part of the town, whilst the prom, which ends at the harbour, has street cafes and houses with beautiful gallery windows. In the 13th century, the port of Cedeira maintained relations with other ports overseas. In the 18th century there was a turning point in its history. The Concepcion fort was built as a cautious response to English attack. In the second half of the 19th century new urban areas were added thanks to the sea. There were new factories for salting and shellfish. |
