PORT OF SAN CIPRIÁN | |
Description | The peninsula has two beaches and seafarers’ houses that make this a beautiful village. San Cibrao (called the ‘Peninsula of Peace’), is surrounded by fine white sands. The higher part of the leisure area here, called A Atalaia, is topped by a lighthouse that looks out over the horizon and the “Dos Farallóns” Islands, the origin of the local legend of Maruxaina. The fishing port is a feature of note. During the 14th and 15th centuries boats called caravels were constructed here and there was a salting factory, of which the remains can still be seen (known as Castelo Mariño). |
